Our trip to Calico was surely a memorable one. The mines, the town, and the overall experience surely did scare some scouts, but it also locked in place as a piece in our memories one would never forget.
When we first got there, it was already night and we had to set up, fast. The tents were all neatly arranged in an "L" shape and the kitchen was ready and loaded up.
Our first attraction was the Calico Ghost Town, which actually influenced the Calico section of Knott's Berry Farm. The experience was mind-blowing as we were given insight into the lore-filled history of the small city. There were also plenty of stores with merchandise that would capture the attention of any western-lover's minds and hypnotize them into staring at the variety of items and drinks.
After that beautiful experience, we went underground to a place long abandoned by the gunslingers and gold miners of the American Frontier. The mines were pitch-black, narrow corridors that were toxic yet eye-catching. Some parts were deep pitfalls that looked bottomless and others were tight tunnels that even required crawling. However, all of Troop 985 did enjoy the breath-taking lore about the land below Earth.
After the experience in the mines and ghost town, we were given free time as a treat to enjoy ourselves and buy all the western merchandise you could see.
